A vacuum cleaner salesman comes to your door. \u201cYou must buy this vacuum cleaner,\u201d he says. \u201cWhy?\u201d you say. \u201cBecause I know what\u2019s good for you,\u201d he says. \u201cI know things you don\u2019t know.\u201d \u201cWhat are they?\u201d you say. \u201cI can\u2019t tell you,\u201d he says, \u201cbecause they\u2019re secret. You are required to trust me. The vacuum cleaner will create jobs.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhere is the vacuum cleaner made?\u201d you say. \u201cIn another country,\u201d he says. \u201cSo the jobs will be created in another country? Not here?\u201d you say. You believe it\u2019s your right to query: It\u2019s your money and, come to think of it, you pay this guy\u2019s salary. <\/p>\n

\u201cStop bickering,\u201d he says. \u201cI am competent. That\u2019s my story and I\u2019m sticking it to you.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m not bickering,\u201d you say. \u201cI\u2019m asking relevant questions. How much will the vacuum cleaner cost me?\u201d \u201cI can\u2019t tell you that,\u201d he says. \u201cWhy not? Because it\u2019s more than you claimed at first?\u201d you say. \u201cOr because you don\u2019t really know the cost?\u201d \u201cI can\u2019t tell you that, either,\u201d he says. \u201cBut you have to pay.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
