"She [Faust] is well known for her fun personality, intelligence, work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork mentality, diligence and leadership. [...] Throughout the time I've known her, she has shown me time and again that she is a positive, motivated leader with amazing potential. "
Director of Service at Innovation Networks
The spirit yearns for many things, but the most fundamental is connection. Thus, it is both a pleasure and privilege to serve in communications, especially as the internet changes how we exchange information. I understand the profound gratification that clearly conveying a concept from one person to another can bring, as well as the satisfaction of effectively breaking a complex problem down into easy-to-follow instructions.
It can be difficult to impart information effectively to an audience, but don’t worry, I got this. The written word is my jam.
Flexibility & Determination
There is more than one path to the top, but no matter how you get there, you have to put the work in. I’m very results oriented – I need problems to solve and goals to strive for – and it motivates me to engage my work with discipline, energy, and a drive for success.
Paired with that, I'm adaptable. I may be a process-loving professional, but I’m not conventional. Think your job is odd? Try me. I am comfortable in almost any setting and love collaborating with people from diverse fields and cultural backgrounds.
My official home base is Vancouver, BC, but in reality it's often my laptop and distinctive red suitcase. I’ll work from anywhere.
I most frequently visit LA, NYC, Seattle, and SF, but I'm also acquainted with Calgary, Chicago, >Laguna Beach, Las Vegas, Montreal, Mountain View, Minneapolis, Santa Fe, Toronto, and driving endlessly across Silicon Valley with all the other
commuters cool kids. Unless I have a previous commitment, I will always say yes to a new adventure.
P.S. I’m open to relocation. Want me to work on-site? Make me an offer! I'm ready to hit the ground running.
Some people might be glad to coast, but I find it uncomfortable. Learning new skills is how I stay sharp! I relish the chance to leave my comfort zone and the zest of conquering new challenges.
I built this website using unfamiliar on-line tools, for example, and knew nothing about CSS structure and style when I started, but I learned enough to clean the code by hand before uploading it to my domain. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
I also enjoy attending conferences and workshops and keep a loose schedule of them throughout the year. (Hi, friends from the AAAS, DefCon, and YxYY! I miss you!)

Some Recent Work History
Hackaday.io February 2015 - June 2015 (Contract)
I assisted with the creation and release of a press package, as well as press follow-up, for The Hackaday Prize, an annual hardware hacking competition (sponsored by SupplyFrame) that awards the Grand Prize winner a ticket to space on the carrier of their choice.
Wot.io August 2014 - October 2014 (Contract)
I clarified and extended internal documentation in support of highly technical staff for an Internet of Things startup. This included standardizing product and Proof of Concept documentation to templates that I created, as well as updating and tidying technical documentation on the internal Confluence wiki. As I mostly worked remotely (as did half of the team), I used JIRA and Slack for daily workflow and to interact with the core development team in NYC.
Gossamer Threads Inc. March 2014 - July 2014 (Contract)
I authored company-branded materials and composed new operating procedures for one of Vancouver's top web hosting companies and their clients. My main project was to map and document a waterfall model SDLC process for the World Health Organization that productively interfaced translators and project staff across four countries and six languages. In addition, I produced several Requests for Proposal (RFPs) based on best practices and created a fully documented template to allow others to consistently produce high-quality proposals, and assisted in recruiting and onboarding a new employee by authoring a detailed job description, onboarding manual and several related SOPs, and supplying direct mentoring.
Event Organizer & Facilitator
CanSecWest Digital Security Conference March 2008 - Current (Annually)
I work directly with the upper management of one of the premier computer security event companies in the world, guaranteeing the smooth operation of an annual infosec conference of 550+ attendees. Given that we are a small, highly flexible team and a large degree of independence is granted to balance and prioritize the deliverables, my duties range from the critical to the mundane. My work at Attendee Registration, for example, not only requires the timely and efficient registration of all 550+ guests, VIPs, and vendors (which include companies such as Google, Microsoft, Blackberry, Facebook, and IOActive), but demands that I independently act in a public relations role, answering questions and assisting attendees with all aspects of the conference, including Dojo Training Classes and the famous PWN2OWN contest. I also train volunteers, help to schedule and organize meetings, source artists, electronics, and equipment, supervise conference parties, organize deliveries, coordinate staff, Guest Speakers, VIPs and Special Guests, and manage the merchandise table, which includes a $500 - $1000 float and supervision of all sales goods and associated volunteers.
Human Resources, Culture and Process
NewGen Technologies Corp. November 2012 – January 2015
Alongside regular HR duties, such as full-cycle hiring, I designed and composed fresh Operational Improvement Programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and process manuals, many to ITIL standards for a technical support company of 25-30 employees. These documents reshaped the company, solidified its internal structure, boosted productivity and team cooperation, and guaranteed a consistently high level of customer service. (The language was also carefully crafted to foster a climate of inclusion and a culture of continuous improvement.) I also redesigned and streamlined the company hiring process, implementing new scripts and procedures that were better at locating, recruiting, and retaining exceptional talent. My other duties include planning and carrying out new company culture initiatives and employee engagement programs and authoring all company announcements, both internal and external.
